Let's go hand in hand, mano en mano
Two sets of identical twins, separated at birth, unwittingly begin interacting with each other’s family and friends, leading to a not - so - serious case of misplaced identities. This bilingual (Spanish and English) adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s zaniest comedies springs from a collaboration between veteran OSF dramaturg Lydia G. Garcia and OSF Artistic Director Bill Rauch, and from the twin sources of inspiration for OSF’s mission to reveal our collective humanity: Shakespeare's work and the cultural richness of the United States. Created with a laser focus on the actors and text — and with the flexibility to be performed on multiple stages with costumes, props and live music, without the need for theatrical lighting or pre - recorded sound — La Comedia of Errors is a unique, intimate, poignant experience that emphasizes the human connectivity at the heart of the ancient art form that is live theatre. Commissioned as part of the Play on! Shakespeare translation program and set in Southern Oregon, the play shares its cast and director with the world premiere of Octavio Solis’s Mother Road and will be a fun - filled ride for speakers of English or Spanish, and a particular treat for those who speak both!
La Comedia of Errors will be performed at a variety of show times an in a variety of spaces, including OSF’s Thomas Theatre and Hay - Patton Rehearsal Center, and in local communities. More information on community performances to come.
